Senior Bookkeeper & Finance Assistant

About the role

Dunhill Aviation, an expanding aviation engineering business at London Southend Airport, is seeking a confident and organised Senior Bookkeeper & Finance Assistant. You will own the day‑to‑day finance function, work autonomously and help shape effective financial processes for a busy, growing operation.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records and process daily transactions.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts.
• Process and review sales and purchase invoices.
• Manage supplier payment runs and reconcile supplier statements.
• Post day‑to‑day transactions in Xero and reconcile bank statements.
• Support the preparation of VAT returns.
• Produce monthly management information and financial reports for Directors.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to improve job costing, invoicing and financial systems.

Required profile

• Strong bookkeeping experience with a solid understanding of accounting principles.
• Proficiency in Xero, Apron and Microsoft applications.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently.
• Highly organised and detail‑oriented.
• Bookkeeping or accounting qualifications (e.g., AAT) are advantageous, but extensive senior‑level experience is essential.

What we offer

• Competitive salary £32,000‑£38,000 per year (pro‑rated for part‑time).
• On‑site role at Southend Airport, approximately 25 hours per week.
