Senior Bookkeeper

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join a well‑established construction and plant‑hire business. This permanent, part‑time role is fully remote, offering 15‑20 hours per week with flexibility around month‑end, VAT and audit periods.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day bookkeeping using Sage 50.
• Process purchase and sales ledger transactions.
• Reconcile supplier statements and bank accounts.
• Oversee online banking and run payments.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns.
• Process payroll and workplace pensions.
• Monitor cash‑flow and produce management reports.
• Prepare month‑end journals and management information.
• Prepare year‑end accounts to trial balance.
• Liaise with external accountants and support audits.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of bookkeeping or finance experience.
• Strong, proven experience with Sage 50.
• Hands‑on experience with VAT returns and HMRC compliance.
• Payroll and pension administration background.
• Experience preparing month‑end and year‑end accounts.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
