Senior Bookkeeper

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join our finance team in Chorleywood. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will be responsible for accurate and timely financial management across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily bank reconciliations for all company accounts.
• Compile, post and manage sales and purchase invoices and payments.
• Maintain stock book movements and master files.
• Prepare draft monthly management accounts, including journal entries, inter‑company adjustments and reconciliations.
• Reconcile balance‑sheet control accounts each month and keep year‑end balance‑sheet files up to date.
• Process petty cash, credit‑card transactions and expense claims.
• Provide data and support for the year‑end audit and pension fund invoicing.
• Manage debtor ledger, raise sales and purchase invoices and ensure VAT margin scheme liabilities are signed off quarterly.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and self‑motivation.
• Proven experience in senior bookkeeping or accounting roles.
• Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Group accounting experience.
• Management accounts preparation.
• Audit support experience.
• Comprehensive VAT knowledge.
