Senior Buyer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Buyer to join our CIU team in Aberdeen. The role is responsible for procuring materials and services, ensuring all transactions are auditable and purchase orders are closed efficiently. You will work closely with operations, finance, engineering and the workshop to optimise inventory, control costs and support project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor stock levels with Operations and Finance, optimise turnover and minimise shortages or excess.
• Drive cost‑efficiency by challenging requirements and achieving best price, time and quality.
• Maintain Kanban components in the workshop to desired levels.
• Own procurement activities, attend operational and planning meetings, and manage bill‑of‑materials costs and lead times.
• Onboard suppliers to the Vendorse portal, support new supplier approval and AVL management.
• Conduct supplier evaluations, audits and performance reviews.
• Expedite orders weekly, report status and follow up on delays.
• Process purchase orders in M3, ensure accurate master and pricing data.
• Maintain electronic and manual filing systems and support item part cleansing in M3.
• Promote environmentally sustainable practices across the supply chain.

Required profile

• Prior experience in a procurement role, preferably in a high‑pressure operational environment.
• Chartered status with CIPS is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of supply‑chain processes, commercial evaluation and purchase terms.
• Proactive attitude, responsible for own actions and projects.
• Effective teamwork skills within a small team.
