Senior CAPEX Accountant

About the role

This 12‑month fixed‑term position offers a high‑visibility opportunity within a large, complex organisation. You will work closely with senior finance and operational stakeholders, providing robust accounting, governance and reporting for a diverse portfolio of capital projects.

Key responsibilities

• Own capital expenditure accounting and reporting activities.
• Ensure expenditure is capitalised in line with IFRS and internal policies.
• Review project costs and determine correct accounting treatment of capital and operational spend.
• Prepare month‑end CAPEX reports, fixed‑asset accounting and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and long‑term planning.
• Partner with project managers and operational teams to provide financial insight and challenge.
• Support governance, investment approval and control processes.
• Prepare analysis for internal and external audit requirements.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen controls and improve reporting.
• Contribute to wider finance initiatives and strategic projects.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified with strong technical accounting knowledge.
• Experience in fixed‑asset, project or capital‑expenditure accounting.
• Excellent analytical ability and attention to detail.
• Proven ability to build credibility with finance and non‑finance stakeholders.
• Strong communication and influencing skills.
• Proactive, commercial and solutions‑focused mindset.
• Experience in an asset‑intensive environment (engineering, manufacturing, construction, infrastructure) is advantageous.
