Senior Carpenter – Period Home Restoration

About the role

Join Mitchell & Dickinson’s skilled operations team as a Senior Carpenter Craftsperson, focusing on the restoration and improvement of period homes. You will work on site under a Project Manager, delivering high‑quality carpentry, especially on historic windows and doors.

Key responsibilities

• Restore and refurbish timber casement, sash windows and doors.
• Carry out repairs such as replacing cills, glazing, sash re‑weighting and timber restoration.
• Install specialist secondary glazing systems and invisible draught‑proofing solutions.
• Build and fit hardwood frames and bespoke joinery components.
• Complete loft, under‑floor and roof insulation installations where required.
• Perform painting and decorating associated with restoration works.
• Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship, cleanliness and customer care.
• Load and unload tools and materials safely, and maintain company vehicles and equipment.
• Work safely at height using appropriate access equipment.

Required profile

• Authorized to work in the United Kingdom.
• Proven experience in period‑home carpentry and timber joinery.
• Ability to work safely at height and operate hand and power tools.

Required skills

• Hand and power tool operation.
• Timber joinery restoration (casement, sash, doors).
• Secondary glazing and draught‑proofing installation.
• Insulation installation (loft, under‑floor, roof).
• Painting and decorating of restored elements.

What we offer

• Salary £29,000‑£35,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
• Paid travel time after the first 40 minutes each way.
