Senior Charge Nurse – Ward 43 (Fixed‑Term)

About the role

The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a Senior Charge Nurse for Ward 43 at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. This fixed‑term, one‑year position provides 24/7 clinical leadership, ensuring safe, effective, person‑centred care for a diverse patient population.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the multidisciplinary team on the ward, overseeing patient assessment, care planning and delivery.
• Maintain accurate patient records in line with NMC guidelines.
• Recruit, supervise, develop and deploy nursing staff, ensuring learning opportunities and best practice.
• Manage the ward around the clock, contributing to out‑of‑hours senior nurse rotas.
• Collaborate with senior management and the ECMS team to meet Care Assurance Standards.

Required profile

• Current, active NMC UK pin.
• Proven experience as a senior charge or clinical leader in an acute hospital setting.
• Strong decision‑making, critical analysis and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work within legal and ethical frameworks set by the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
