Senior Children's Practitioner – Looked After Children

About the role
Our client Shropshire Council is seeking a Senior Children’s Practitioner to work within the Children Looked After Service. The role involves delivering social work assessments, case management and statutory visits to ensure the wellbeing of children in care.
Key responsibilities
- Undertake assessments and direct interventions with children and families.
- Progress care and pathway plans, ensuring timely access to appropriate services.
- Conduct statutory visits to children in home, foster, and residential settings in line with CLA requirements.
- Manage cases and coordinate meetings such as care planning, risk management, placement stability, PEPs and reviews.
- Provide information and advice to children and families to resolve issues.
- Carry out court work related to revocation of care orders, SGO and placement order applications as required.
- Participate in the team’s duty system and maintain accurate computerised records.
Required profile
- Qualified Social Worker (or Senior Social Worker) with experience in Children Looked After services.
- Ability to manage a caseload and conduct statutory visits.
- Willingness to undertake occasional court work.
- Commitment to collaborative working with parents, guardians and professionals.
- Enhanced DBS clearance.
