Senior Children's Social Worker – Child Protection (CP)

About the role

Our client, a Yorkshire council, is looking for a Senior Children’s Social Worker to join their Child Protection (CP) team. This temporary full‑time position offers a competitive rate of £35 per hour and involves managing complex safeguarding cases from referral through to closure.

Key responsibilities

• Manage caseloads from referral to closure, ensuring timely interventions.
• Conduct Child and Family Assessments to identify needs, risks and support plans.
• Develop, review and monitor Child in Need and Child Protection plans.
• Carry out Pre‑Birth Assessments and plan interventions to safeguard unborn children.
• Progress cases through the Public Law Outline (PLO) process where thresholds are met.
• Prepare evidence‑based assessments, court statements and reports for legal proceedings.
• Initiate and manage care proceedings in partnership with legal services and multi‑agency professionals.
• Chair and attend professional, strategy and legal planning meetings.
• Maintain accurate case records in line with statutory and organisational standards.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
• Minimum three years’ experience as a qualified social worker, preferably in child protection.
• Strong knowledge of statutory frameworks and legal processes related to child safeguarding.
