Senior Children's Support Worker

About the role

The Recruitment Crowd is hiring a Senior Residential Support Worker for a respected children’s residential care provider in Hetton‑le‑Hole. You will lead shifts, mentor residential staff and ensure a safe, therapeutic environment where vulnerable children and young people can thrive.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily shifts and oversee the smooth running of the home.
• Provide guidance, coaching and support to Residential Support Workers.
• Deliver high‑quality, child‑centred care tailored to individual needs.
• Build trusting relationships with children, young people and their families.
• Support education, independence, life‑skills and personal development.
• Promote positive behaviour using therapeutic and restorative approaches.
• Maintain safeguarding as the core of all practice.
• Accurately record reports, care plans and documentation.
• Collaborate with families, schools, social workers and other professionals.
• Ensure compliance with legislation, regulations and quality standards.
• Participate in sleep‑ins and flexible shift patterns as required.

Required profile

• Minimum 12 months experience in a children’s residential care setting.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Passion for supporting vulnerable children and young people.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Resilient, calm and able to work effectively under pressure.
• Flexible approach to weekends, shift work and sleep‑ins.
• Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.
