Senior Civil Engineer – Infrastructure Design

About the role

Brandon James Ltd is looking for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to lead the design and delivery of residential, commercial and mixed‑use development projects. You will join a collaborative civil engineering team in Hemel Hempstead, working closely with clients, architects, contractors and other technical disciplines.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of highways, drainage and external works packages.
• Prepare detailed designs, calculations, reports and technical specifications.
• Produce drainage strategies, level designs and infrastructure layouts.
• Work with Section 38, Section 104, Section 106 and Section 278 agreements.
• Liaise with clients, local authorities, statutory bodies and project teams.
• Manage project programmes, budgets and technical deliverables.
• Review work completed by junior engineers and technicians.
• Support fee proposals, tender submissions and client development.

Required profile

• Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong consultancy experience within development infrastructure.
• Experience designing highways, drainage and external works.
• Knowledge of UK design standards, SuDS guidance and planning requirements.
• Strong written, technical and client‑facing communication skills.
• Experience managing projects and mentoring junior team members.
• Membership of ICE with Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status, or progress towards IEng/CEng (desirable).
