Senior Client Accountant – Milton Keynes

About the role

FindCore is supporting a fast‑growing accountancy practice in recruiting a Senior Client Accountant for a permanent, full‑time position based in Milton Keynes. The role starts fully office‑based during probation and moves to a hybrid model (four days in the office, one day remote) thereafter.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of up to 50 SME clients, adjusting to around 30 for more complex or VIP accounts.
• Serve as the primary contact for accounting, tax, and financial advisory matters.
• Prepare and review statutory accounts under FRS 102/105 and corporation tax computations (CT600).
• Produce management accounts, financial reports, variance analysis, budgeting, cash‑flow forecasts and business planning support.
• Review VAT returns, ensure timely and accurate filing, and liaise with HMRC, Companies House, banks and other third parties.
• Identify and implement improvements to client systems, reporting and financial processes.
• Mentor junior team members, review their bookkeeping, VAT and accounts work, and support workflow and resource planning.
• Assist with client onboarding, engagement renewals and company secretarial matters using Xero, Dext and other cloud‑based tools.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a UK accountancy practice, managing SME client portfolios.
• ACA, ACCA or equivalent experience (part‑qualified candidates considered).
• Strong technical knowledge of statutory accounts, corporation tax, VAT and personal tax.
• Excellent client relationship and communication skills with a commercial mindset.
