Senior Client Accountant – Practice

About the role

Our client, a modern and ambitious accountancy practice based in Milton Keynes, is seeking a qualified Senior Client Accountant. You will own a diverse portfolio of SME clients, delivering accounting, tax and advisory services while influencing practice growth.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a client portfolio covering accounts preparation, corporation tax, VAT and personal tax returns.
• Oversee workflow, planning, deadlines and quality control to ensure high‑quality delivery.
• Act as the primary point of contact for clients, building trusted relationships.
• Review and mentor junior staff, supporting their development.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance practice efficiency.

Required profile

• ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent experience).
• Proven UK practice experience, preferably within an accountancy firm.
• Demonstrated ability to manage an SME client portfolio independently.
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational ability.

Required skills

• Xero and other cloud‑based accounting software.
• Preparation of accounts and financial statements.
• Corporation tax, VAT and personal tax compliance.
