Senior Client Accountant – SME Portfolio

About the role

FindCore is supporting a fast‑growing accountancy practice in Milton Keynes. The Senior Client Accountant will manage a portfolio of SME clients, delivering accounting, tax and advisory services. The role is permanent, full‑time and hybrid after a fully office‑based probation period.

Key responsibilities

• Manage up to 50 SME clients, adjusting the load for more complex or VIP accounts.
• Act as the primary contact for accounting, tax and financial advisory matters.
• Prepare and review statutory accounts under FRS 102/105 and corporation tax computations (CT600).
• Produce management accounts, variance analysis, budgeting and cash‑flow forecasts.
• Review VAT returns, ensure timely filing and liaise with HMRC, Companies House and banks.
• Mentor junior team members and oversee their bookkeeping, VAT and accounts work.
• Support client onboarding, engagement renewals and company secretarial tasks.
• Identify and implement improvements to client systems, reporting and internal workflows using cloud‑based tools.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a UK accountancy practice, managing SME portfolios independently.
• ACA or ACCA qualification preferred; part‑qualified or qualified‑by‑experience candidates considered.
• Strong technical knowledge of statutory accounts, corporation tax, VAT and personal tax.
• Excellent client relationship and communication skills.
