Senior Clinical Coder ACC

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior ACC Clinical Coder to deliver accurate coding of NHS and private admitted patient episodes. The role is primarily remote with regular visits to hospital sites, allowing you to work from home while staying closely linked to clinical teams.

Key responsibilities

• Apply the four‑step coding process to analyse and interpret clinical information from MAXIMS case notes, nursing notes, consultant notes, investigations and histology reports.
• Assign ICD‑10 diagnosis codes and OPCS‑4 procedure codes using the encoder and ensure correct data entry into hospital systems.
• Maintain compliance with national and local coding standards set by NHS England and WHO.
• Manage workload to meet daily coding volumes and internal/external deadlines.
• Raise queries with clinical teams when documentation is unclear and support them in improving documentation quality.
• Participate in coding audits, training sessions and coding meetings (face‑to‑face or via Microsoft Teams).

Required profile

• National Clinical Coding Qualification (NCCQ) – Accredited Clinical Coder (ACC) certification or equivalent experience.
• Proven expertise in ICD‑10 and OPCS‑4 coding across multiple specialties.
• Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and meet strict deadlines.
