Senior Cloud Engineering Consultant – AWS

About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Cloud Engineer to join our dynamic and growing team. In this client‑facing role you will design, build and maintain robust, scalable cloud infrastructure for diverse clients across the UK and EMEA, forming the foundation of their Data Platform and AI solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with client stakeholders to understand business objectives and design best‑practice cloud solutions on AWS or Azure.
• Lead hands‑on implementation and deployment of cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Architect and build foundational cloud services for modern data platforms, including data lakes, warehouses and machine learning environments.
• Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate deployment, testing and integration of infrastructure and applications.
• Provide ongoing operational support and maintenance for client cloud environments as part of managed services.
• Implement cloud security best practices, cost management strategies and governance policies.
• Assist sales team in technical pre‑sales engagements, contributing to proposals and presenting solutions.
• Mentor junior colleagues and contribute to internal best practices and knowledge bases.

Required profile

• Substantial commercial experience in a DevOps or Cloud Consultant role delivering end‑to‑end solutions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to engage technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Consultative mindset, problem‑solving and analytical abilities, comfortable working autonomously in agile, client‑facing environments.

Required skills

• AWS core services (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, RDS, Lambda, Glue, EKS/ECS).
• Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation.
• Scripting/automation with Python, Bash or PowerShell.
• CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or AWS CodePipeline.
• Containerisation with Docker and orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS).
• Optional: AWS Solutions Architect certification, experience with Azure/GCP, cloud‑native data services (Redshift, Snowflake, Databricks, EMR).
