Senior Commercial Manager - Naval Autonomy

About the role

Babcock is recruiting a Senior Commercial Manager for its Global Shipbuilding & Advanced Manufacturing Commercial Team, supporting the Marine sector and shaping the future of naval autonomy in the UK and international markets. The role sits at the heart of defence innovation, working across research and development, business growth, bid management and contract delivery. It is full time and permanent, with a salary of £57,300 to £82,300 plus 15% AIP and single PMI, and flexible remote, hybrid or onsite working, mainly remote with occasional site travel.

Key responsibilities

• Lead commercial strategy across naval autonomy and future capability opportunities
• Support business growth, bid and delivery teams in developing commercially robust solutions
• Manage stakeholder relationships across Babcock, customers, partners and industry bodies
• Identify, assess and mitigate contractual and commercial risks across programmes
• Represent Babcock at forums, working groups and governance reviews

Required profile

• Significant experience in commercial bid management within the defence sector
• Experience with UK Ministry of Defence and international government contracting frameworks
• Proven stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
• Experience managing commercial risk on complex, high-value programmes
• Ability to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for business
