Senior Construction Underwriter

About the role

We are recruiting on behalf of a global insurance provider for a Senior Construction Underwriter to join their UK construction and engineering underwriting team. The role involves managing and pricing construction and engineering risks within delegated authority, and acting as a key contact for major domestic and international clients.

Key responsibilities

• Underwrite construction and engineering risks in line with authority limits, ensuring technical accuracy and consistency.
• Serve as primary liaison for large domestic and international clients, providing advice and negotiating terms.
• Mentor and support junior underwriters, sharing expertise and reviewing their submissions.
• Collaborate with reinsurance partners and internal stakeholders to develop competitive solutions.
• Maintain accurate records in the company’s CRM and underwriting systems.

Required profile

• Proven experience in construction or engineering underwriting, preferably within the UK or international market.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to assess complex risk structures.
• Calm, flexible and diplomatic approach when dealing with clients and internal teams.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity with CRM systems used for underwriting workflows.
