Senior Construction Underwriter

About the role

The Senior Construction Underwriter will work on a hybrid basis across Manchester, Birmingham or Leeds, focusing on the UK construction market. You will combine technical underwriting expertise with a commercial mindset to build broker relationships, win new business and grow a high‑value portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and key market players.
• Identify and secure new construction insurance business across the UK.
• Underwrite Construction Liability policies and assess exposure for Contract Works, Professional Indemnity and Property lines.
• Make underwriting decisions, set pricing and terms, and manage the portfolio’s risk profile.
• Drive growth initiatives and contribute to the strategic direction of the construction portfolio.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a construction underwriter at a senior level.
• Strong technical underwriting skills with a commercial focus.
• Passion for broker trading and ability to build lasting relationships.
• Self‑motivated, results‑driven and comfortable making independent decisions.
