Senior Cost Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Cost Accountant to build and own project‑level financial reporting for a fast‑growing renewable energy infrastructure business. This newly created position will work hand‑in‑hand with project managers, turning delivery data into actionable financial insight.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement a project‑level reporting framework, including cost codes, budget vs. actual and forecast to completion.
• Produce monthly project P&L statements with clear narrative explanations.
• Configure the accounting system to generate reliable, repeatable project reports.
• Retrospectively tag historic transactions to project codes to establish an accurate baseline.
• Monitor cost performance, flag variances and risks early for management action.
• Own cost and revenue recognition, supporting group financial accounts.
• Partner with project managers across regions, translating operational delivery into financial position and vice‑versa.
• Support the bid team with robust cost models and pricing analysis.

Required profile

• Proven experience building project‑level reporting from scratch (project P&Ls, cost tracking, forecasting).
• Strong business‑partnering skills with the ability to gain trust of non‑finance project teams.
• Comfortable in a project‑based environment such as construction, infrastructure or engineering.
• Ability to create structure where none exists and mentor operational teams.
