Senior Cyber Security Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Cyber Security Engineer to lead the design and implementation of AI‑enabled capabilities across Checkout.com, ensuring that AI technologies are deployed safely, governed and resilient. The role bridges cyber security and emerging AI/ML technologies, embedding security into AI systems and helping the organisation adopt AI securely at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement security controls for AI and machine‑learning solutions, including LLM‑based applications, model integrations and supporting cloud infrastructure.
• Assess security, privacy and compliance risks of AI systems such as model misuse, prompt injection, data leakage and over‑permissioned access.
• Develop standards, guardrails and reference architectures for secure AI use across the organisation.
• Review AI use cases, architectures and deployments to ensure alignment with cyber security policies, regulatory requirements and internal governance.
• Build and maintain monitoring, detection and response capabilities for AI‑related threats and misuse scenarios.
• Identify opportunities to leverage AI to enhance cyber security operations, including alert triage, threat analysis and workflow automation.
• Stay up‑to‑date with evolving AI security risks, attack techniques, regulations and industry best practices such as the EU AI Act and ISO 42001.

Required profile

• Proven experience in cyber security engineering, security architecture or a related security role.
• Strong understanding of core security domains – identity and access management, cloud security, application security, data protection, logging and monitoring, incident response.
• Solid knowledge of AI/ML and LLM concepts, model deployment patterns, APIs, embeddings, vector stores and common AI security risks.
• Experience securing cloud environments (AWS, Azure or GCP) and modern development workflows.
• Ability to conduct architecture reviews, threat modelling and security assessments for complex technical solutions.
• Excellent communication skills to translate technical risk into clear guidance for engineering and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across cyber security, engineering, data, legal and business teams.
