Senior Data Architect – Financial Services (Hybrid)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Data Architect to lead the design and delivery of enterprise data platforms for a major UK financial services organisation. The role will be based in Edinburgh with hybrid working across Edinburgh, Stirling, Bath or London. You will shape the future of data, analytics and AI across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Define and evolve enterprise, domain and solution‑level data architecture.
• Design logical and physical data models for operational, analytical and AI use cases.
• Establish architecture standards, patterns, principles and governance frameworks.
• Provide technical leadership and architectural assurance across delivery teams.
• Collaborate with technology, data, analytics, security and business stakeholders.
• Drive best practice in data governance, lineage, metadata management and data quality.
• Support strategic data initiatives, investment planning and architectural road‑maps.
• Ensure solutions meet regulatory, security, resilience and performance requirements.
• Mentor teams and promote strong architectural practices.

Required profile

• 3+ years experience in a Senior Data Architect role.
• Strong technical background in data architecture, modelling and information management.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders while remaining hands‑on.
• Experience designing modern data platforms for analytics, reporting and machine‑learning workloads.
• Knowledge of data governance, lineage, metadata and data‑quality frameworks.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Financial services experience is highly desirable, though candidates from other regulated sectors are also considered.
