Senior Data Engineer – Azure Data Solutions

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to design, build and maintain Azure‑based data solutions that support ongoing research projects and the wider organisation. You will ensure data is accurate, reliable and readily available for reporting and decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and T‑SQL.
• Maintain and optimise Azure SQL Server databases.
• Implement data validation, monitoring, logging and reconciliation mechanisms.
• Ensure secure data architecture and compliance with handling of sensitive personal data.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver reliable data solutions for day‑to‑day operations and future needs.

Required profile

• Proven experience building and maintaining reliable data pipelines.
• Strong expertise with Azure Data Factory and Azure SQL Server.
• Advanced T‑SQL skills, including database design, stored procedures and query optimisation.
• Experience adding validation, monitoring, logging and reconciliation to pipelines.
• Understanding of secure data architecture and handling of sensitive data.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, version control and CI/CD processes.
