Senior Data Engineer – Knowledge Systems

About the role

Oscar Technology is building a modern, cloud‑native platform and moving towards an AI‑first engineering model. As a Senior Data Engineer – Knowledge Systems you will design, develop and own the knowledge platform that powers AI applications and supports engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build scalable knowledge architectures that combine structured and unstructured data from multiple sources.
• Select and implement appropriate storage and retrieval solutions such as document stores, graph databases, vector databases and traditional data platforms.
• Model complex business domains to improve retrieval quality and contextual understanding.
• Develop hybrid retrieval strategies using semantic search, keyword search, embeddings and knowledge graphs.
• Evaluate, integrate and extend best‑in‑class tools rather than building everything from scratch.
• Measure, monitor and continuously improve retrieval accuracy, relevance and system performance.
• Build and maintain robust data pipelines that keep knowledge systems up‑to‑date and production‑ready.

Required profile

• Strong commercial experience in senior data engineering or knowledge engineering roles.
• Proven ability to design scalable knowledge systems for AI‑powered applications.
• Deep understanding of domain modelling, ontology design and information architecture.
• Excellent judgement in selecting technologies and architectures.
