Senior Data Engineer – £95K – Westminster (Onsite)

About the role

Our client is building an AI‑driven operating system for a traditionally under‑digitised UK services sector. As the first senior data hire, you will design and scale the data platform that powers real‑time pipelines, analytics, vector search and machine‑learning workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and implement scalable data pipelines and infrastructure for AI‑enabled products.
• Design data ingestion, transformation and storage solutions, including batch and streaming pipelines.
• Build and maintain vector‑search systems to support ML model retrieval.
• Ensure data reliability, security, governance and observability across the platform.
• Shape long‑term data strategy and mentor junior engineers as the team grows.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience in data engineering or backend development.
• Strong expertise in Python and distributed data systems.
• Hands‑on experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with NoSQL and vector databases such as Qdrant, Milvus or pgvector.
