Senior Data Scientist - Pricing

About the role

Hastings Direct is looking for an experienced Senior Data Scientist to join its Pricing, Data and Analytics community. The role focuses on building innovative data assets and predictive models that drive the company’s market‑leading pricing strategy across the UK insurance market.

Key responsibilities

• Create and maintain analytical tools that support risk‑portfolio management.
• Develop best‑in‑class models to predict claims outcomes, fraud and other risk key performance indicators.
• Engineer new rating factors for integration into pricing algorithms.
• Identify, analyse and monetise new data sources.
• Collaborate with data scientists, modelers and analysts to champion alternative risk‑analysis approaches.

Required profile

• Proven track record delivering end‑to‑end machine‑learning projects, from exploratory data analysis to deployment and post‑deployment evaluation.
• Strong ability to work with multiple stakeholders to frame problems and deliver data‑driven solutions.
• Experience in a fast‑moving, data‑centric environment, preferably within insurance or financial services.
