Senior Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join a high-performance team developing next-generation 5G non-terrestrial communications hardware. The role focuses on creating digital designs for satellite-based systems, taking concepts from architecture through to validation on space-qualified platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Translate system and algorithm specifications into RTL micro-architectures.
• Develop and verify RTL code using Verilog/SystemVerilog for FPGA and ASIC targets.
• Create testbenches and perform functional verification.
• Deploy designs on FPGA development boards and validate on space-qualified hardware.
• Optimize designs for performance, timing, power consumption and resource utilisation.
• Produce high-quality technical documentation.
• Collaborate with architecture, verification, physical implementation and integration teams.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of design methodologies and engineering processes.

Required profile

• Proven senior-level experience in RTL design for complex FPGA and ASIC projects.
• Strong background in high-throughput digital signal or data processing hardware.
• Experience with synthesis, timing analysis and power optimisation techniques.
• Familiarity with industry-standard EDA tools for simulation and synthesis.
• Ability to work within Agile or structured hardware development lifecycles.

Required skills

• Verilog and/or SystemVerilog.
• RTL design and micro-architecture development.
• FPGA development (AMD/Xilinx devices).
• ASIC backend flows and implementation tools.
• UVM verification methodology.
• AMBA bus protocols.
• C++ or SystemC modelling.
• High-speed interfaces such as PCIe or JESD.
• Python or other scripting languages.
• Experience with Agile hardware development processes.
