Senior Design Manager

About the role

Watkin Jones is looking for a Senior Design Manager to lead the design process across a varied portfolio of construction projects. You will combine creativity, technical expertise and commercial insight to deliver high‑quality, sustainable solutions from concept to completion.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate design deliverables across multiple disciplines and ensure compliance with agreed scopes.
• Support consultant appointments and manage BIM proposals within commercial constraints.
• Provide input on buildability, technical feasibility and track progress throughout the design phase.
• Prepare and submit documentation to clients and statutory bodies.
• Identify value‑engineering opportunities, off‑site and prefabrication solutions.
• Contribute to sustainability initiatives and share best practices across the business.
• Assist procurement planning and support cross‑functional teams.

Required profile

• Experience in a design or technical coordination role within construction.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Understanding of construction methods, design processes and commercial drivers.
• Interest in sustainability, innovation and modern living‑space schemes.
• Experience with PBSA (Purpose Built Student Accommodation) or BTR (Build to Rent) is highly desirable.
