Senior Development Scientist – Protein Science

About the role

We are seeking an experienced protein scientist to lead the design and optimisation of protein‑based assays and workflows. You will translate cutting‑edge biology into robust, scalable solutions ready for commercial deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute experimental programmes for biological and enzymatic assay development, focusing on robustness, scalability and transferability.
• Apply protein characterisation techniques such as HPLC/FPLC, mass spectrometry and related analytical methods to accelerate product development.
• Translate feasibility findings into viable product and customer workflows, defining clear milestones and success criteria.
• Lead, mentor and provide day‑to‑day technical guidance to a team of scientists.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally to integrate workflows into the wider platform.
• Maintain high standards of documentation in line with quality management systems.

Required profile

• BSc, MSc, PhD or equivalent in proteomics, biochemistry, molecular biology, bioengineering or a related discipline.
• Proven track record developing, optimising and troubleshooting biological or enzymatic assays in a commercial or industrial setting.
• Hands‑on experience with protein characterisation and bioanalytical methods.
• Demonstrated ability to improve assay performance, reproducibility and scalability.
• Experience managing or mentoring scientists with strong communication skills.
