Senior Direct Buyer

About the role

This newly created Senior Direct Buyer position supports a fast‑growing engineering brand in Milton Keynes. You will work on a hybrid basis, enjoying autonomy while contributing to sustainable, large‑scale projects.

Key responsibilities

• Source and purchase components, raw materials and subcontractor services for engineering projects.
• Manage supplier contracts, conduct negotiations and drive cost‑efficient solutions.
• Produce KPI and operational reports to monitor procurement performance.
• Partner with engineering and technical teams to align material supply with project requirements and inventory policies.
• Oversee supplier performance, lead times, delivery schedules and product quality.
• Resolve supply issues and identify new suppliers as needed.
• Control departmental budget and spend, providing ad‑hoc analysis when required.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a direct buying role within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Extensive background in sourcing direct materials and managing procurement processes.
• Preferably holds a CIPS qualification.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
• Strong commercial acumen and confidence to challenge project and engineering teams.
