Senior Ecologist – Cambridge

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Ecologist to join a growing team in the East of England. You will lead ecological surveys and deliver technical reports for major development projects, from fieldwork through to planning support and mitigation. The role offers a balanced work‑life environment with flexible arrangements.

Key responsibilities

• Design and lead protected‑species surveys for infrastructure and development schemes.
• Produce technical reports including PEAs, EIAs, HRAs, BNG assessments and CEMPs.
• Conduct Biodiversity Net Gain assessments, habitat condition surveys and metric calculations.
• Obtain and manage protected‑species licences and act as Ecological Clerk of Works.
• Support tender preparation and fee proposals.
• Mentor junior team members and promote professional development.
• Travel across the region, with occasional overnight stays, as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and delivering a wide range of ecological surveys.
• Strong knowledge of UK Habitat Classification and habitat condition assessments.
• Experience with protected‑species licensing and Ecological Clerk of Works responsibilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with excellent time‑management.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel throughout East Anglia.
