Senior Ecologist – Edinburgh

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Ecologist to join a leading, award‑winning environmental consultancy based in Edinburgh. The role will lead ecological delivery on high‑profile, landscape‑led projects across the UK and Ireland, working closely with multidisciplinary design teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of ecological services for a diverse portfolio of projects.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships to support business growth.
• Prepare high‑quality ecological reports, assessments and technical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, licensing requirements and industry best practice.
• Provide commercially focused ecological guidance throughout all project stages.
• Collaborate with landscape architects and multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Mentor and support junior ecologists.
• Stay informed of legislative changes and emerging best practice.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an ecological consultant delivering complex projects.
• Ability to lead ecological delivery and influence project design.
• Strong client‑facing and communication skills.
• Experience preparing high‑quality ecological reports and assessments.
• Knowledge of UK and Irish environmental legislation.
• Commitment to mentoring junior staff and continuous professional development.
