Senior Electrical Engineer – Building Services

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead building services design within our Edinburgh office. You will work on a diverse portfolio of projects ranging from educational facilities to high‑end residential and cultural venues, delivering innovative and compliant electrical solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design process from concept through to construction for building services projects.
• Design and specify LV power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarm and related systems.
• Prepare calculations, specifications, reports and detailed technical drawings.
• Coordinate with clients, architects, contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
• Ensure designs meet BS 7671, Building Regulations and other relevant standards.
• Review contractor submissions, conduct site inspections and provide technical support during construction.
• Manage project deliverables, budgets and programme requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote sustainable, energy‑efficient solutions.

Required profile

• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Proven experience in electrical building services design.
• Strong knowledge of BS 7671, Building Regulations and industry standards.
• Excellent communication, leadership and project management abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Revit.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Experience with Amtech/ProDesign.
• Experience with Dialux.
