Senior Electronics Design Engineer

About the role

Belcan is seeking a Senior Electronics Design Engineer to lead innovative projects in industrial control systems, automated test equipment, and electro‑mechanical solutions. Based in Cheltenham, you will drive designs from concept through to production, ensuring high performance and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop electronic systems, including FPGA, analogue, and digital circuits.
• Create and support PCB designs – schematic capture, layout, FMEA, and component analysis.
• Manage small to medium‑sized projects with full lifecycle responsibility.
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards and configuration controls.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and clients to deliver tailored solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers on safety‑critical product development.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior electronics design roles with project ownership.
• Strong circuit design skills from first principles.
• Hands‑on experience with Altium, VHDL, Libero or equivalent tools.
• Familiarity with PLM tools and engineering data management.
• Previous project management experience in an engineering environment.
