Senior Electronics Engineer – Avionics for UAVs

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Electronics Engineer to lead the hands‑on design and development of avionics electronics for an unmanned aircraft platform. You will own the full product lifecycle from concept through prototype, qualification and production, collaborating with systems, software, mechanical and manufacturing teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop analog, digital and power avionics electronics for aerospace hardware, ensuring robustness, scalability and cost‑optimisation.
• Take designs from concept to production‑ready hardware, supporting qualification and certification to standards such as DO‑160 and DO‑254.
• Work with compliance and regulatory requirements (including SORA) and conduct environmental qualification (e.g., IP68).
• Support integration, field trials and flight‑test activities for UAVs and subsystem prototypes.
• Partner with manufacturing on production support, troubleshooting and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• 2:1 degree or above in a STEM discipline.
• Strong practical experience in electronics design, prototyping and productisation, preferably in aerospace or UAV contexts.
• Proactive problem‑solver with clear communication and stakeholder management skills.

Required skills

• SPICE modelling and simulation.
• Component selection and schematic capture.
• Multi‑layer PCB design for high‑reliability applications.
• EMC/EMI‑aware design techniques.
• Altium Designer (preferred).
• Embedded C/C++ development (e.g., STM32).
• Python or other scripting for tooling and test automation.
• Hands‑on soldering, cable assembly and prototype bring‑up.
