Senior Employee Relations Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Employee Relations Specialist to join our HR Shared Service Employee Relations team in Northampton. You will build effective relationships with HR colleagues and business managers, providing professional, value‑added employee relations support.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Employee Relations Manager with caseload and projects, deputising when appropriate.
• Provide advice and guidance to ER Specialists to ensure consistent, impartial commercial advice.
• Manage a high‑volume dispute resolution caseload, including disciplinaries, appeals and grievances, and attend hearings for complex cases.
• Contribute to legislative updates and continuous improvement of ER policies, guidelines and template letters.
• Plan resource needs, allocate tasks, monitor service levels and coach the ER team.
• Deputise for the Manager in daily team management, recruitment and workload distribution.

Required profile

• Minimum two years’ experience in employee relations within a large, multi‑site organisation.
• Experience handling complex grievance, appeal and long‑term sickness cases.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Resilient, collaborative and up‑to‑date with employment legislation and data protection principles.
