Senior Engineering Technician

About the role

The Senior Engineering Technician is a crucial role within the Engineering Development laboratory team in Tewkesbury, supporting customer testing of new components for flight‑critical aircraft actuation systems.

Key responsibilities

• Support customer testing requirements on new components destined for flight‑critical aircraft actuation systems.
• Develop, build and run design‑assurance and qualification tests, including hydraulic impulse fatigue, endurance, performance, thermal cycling and vibration.
• Assemble and test prototype components and valves, including those with integrated electronics.
• Build and set up test rigs and associated equipment, configure instrumentation and data acquisition systems.

Required profile

• HNC/HND (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline, or comparable experience.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a test and validation environment.
• Proven experience building and setting up test rigs, selecting components, and producing test documentation.
• Ability to interpret engineering specifications and drawings and work both collaboratively and independently.

Required skills

• Hydraulic and/or pneumatic system experience.
• Instrumentation and data acquisition equipment usage (e.g., NI LabVIEW preferred).
• Experience with MS Office, especially Excel.
• Basic electrical circuit knowledge and ability to use electrical equipment.
