Senior Estates Engineering Lead

About the role

This 12‑month fixed‑term position offers a senior leader the chance to oversee critical electrical infrastructure for a large NHS healthcare estate. Reporting to the senior estates leadership team, you will provide professional engineering expertise and ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operation of HV/LV systems, generators and UPS across multiple sites.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for all electrical engineering services across the estate.
• Act as the Trust’s lead specialist for critical infrastructure, including HV/LV systems, generators and UPS.
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, HTM guidance, NHS standards and health & safety legislation.
• Manage engineering assurance, risk registers and compliance reporting.
• Support planned preventative maintenance, lifecycle replacement programmes and capital projects.
• Lead infrastructure upgrades, backlog maintenance schemes and energy‑efficiency initiatives.
• Collaborate with contractors, project teams and estates staff to maintain safe and reliable services.

Required profile

• Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.
• Extensive experience in estates and facilities engineering within complex healthcare, public sector or critical environments.
• Strong knowledge of HTM guidance, electrical safety legislation and statutory compliance.
• Proven experience managing HV/LV electrical systems and critical infrastructure.
