Senior Finance and Payroll Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Senior Finance and Payroll Assistant to join our client’s Altrincham headquarters. Working four days on‑site and one day remotely, you will support day‑to‑day financial operations across multiple entities and help drive continuous process improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Raise sales invoices, manage customer queries and handle credit control.
• Create purchase orders, process supplier invoices, run monthly payment cycles and complete VAT returns.
• Process staff expense claims and company credit‑card transactions.
• Assist with month‑end close, journal entries and inter‑company reconciliations.
• End‑to‑end payroll processing, including FPS submissions, pension contributions and employee queries.
• Provide accurate financial information to internal stakeholders.
• Identify and implement efficiency improvements in financial processes and systems.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar finance or payroll role.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles.
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership and work independently.
• Proactive communication style with a continuous‑improvement mindset.
