Senior Finance Assistant / Senior Accounts Assistant (Multi-Entity Finance)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Finance Assistant / Senior Accounts Assistant to join a well‑established provider of business communication and security technology solutions. In this full‑time position you will own key finance processes, support month‑end activities and act as a senior point of contact for junior finance staff.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns across multiple entities.
• Manage intercompany invoicing, recharges and reconciliations, and resolve balance discrepancies.
• Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations, including multi‑currency accounts.
• Post accruals, pre‑payments and month‑end journals; assist with month‑end close and management accounts preparation.
• Process and review sales and purchase invoices, run supplier payments and reconcile supplier statements.
• Maintain accurate sales, purchase and nominal ledgers; monitor aged debtors and creditors.
• Clear historic unreconciled items and authorise write‑offs.
• Reconcile balance‑sheet control accounts and maintain supporting schedules.
• Provide guidance and support to Finance Assistants.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a finance or accounts assistant role.
• Proven experience in a multi‑entity environment, including VAT returns and intercompany accounting.
• AAT qualified, part‑qualified or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong knowledge of accruals, pre‑payments, journal entries and month‑end processes.
• Confident in bank and balance‑sheet reconciliations.

Required skills

• Strong working knowledge of Sage 50.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience using an ERP system.
