Senior Financial Accountant (Technical Accountant)

About the role

Happy Days Nurseries is expanding with a new support hub in Swindon. We are looking for a Senior Financial Accountant (Technical Accountant) to join the finance team and ensure accurate group financial reporting, robust controls and readiness for future growth.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare group accounts and financial reports, consolidating information across multiple companies.
• Lead and support audit activities, including statutory accounts preparation and Companies House filings.
• Develop and maintain strong financial controls and governance processes.
• Work closely with the Finance Director, external auditors and senior business partners.
• Improve systems, processes and ways of working to increase efficiency.
• Support business growth, acquisitions, organisational change and due‑diligence projects.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIPFA qualified.
• Minimum 6 years’ experience in group accounting or a multi‑company environment.
• Proven experience preparing statutory accounts and supporting audits.
• Good understanding of financial reporting standards and Companies House requirements.
• Excellent communication skills, able to explain financial information to non‑financial stakeholders.
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
