Senior Financial Controller – Hybrid/Remote (London)

About the role

We are looking for a seasoned Senior Financial Controller to lead the finance function for our independent creative agency operating in both the UK and the US. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will own end‑to‑end financial administration, control, reporting and strategic planning while working closely with the leadership team.

Key responsibilities

• Fully own the finance function for UK and US entities, including bookkeeping, month‑end and year‑end close, management accounts and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Administer and maintain the Paprika system (i2 and Citrix versions) for job costing, timesheet management, WIP, client billing and reporting.
• Prepare and submit UK VAT returns, manage PAYE, and ensure compliance with HMRC and Companies House.
• Liaise with US external accountants for sales‑tax compliance, inter‑company reconciliations and currency conversions.
• Oversee invoicing, credit control, payroll review (outsourced) and supplier payments.
• Build and manage the annual budgeting and forecasting process, delivering clear performance visibility to senior leadership.
• Produce profitability reports for jobs, clients and projects to support resourcing and pricing decisions.

Required profile

• Hands‑on finance professional with senior‑level experience, preferably in a creative or agency environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and take full accountability for UK and US financial operations.
• Strong analytical mindset with the capacity to influence commercial decisions.
• Excellent communication skills and collaborative approach with department leads.

Required skills

• Paprika system expertise (i2 and Citrix versions).
• In‑depth knowledge of UK VAT, PAYE, HMRC and Companies House compliance.
• Understanding of US sales‑tax requirements and inter‑company accounting.
• Proficiency in financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
