Senior Financial Services Officer (Hybrid, Fixed‑Term)

About the role

Reporting to the Finance Team Leader, the Senior Financial Services Officer will provide operational support to the Finance team during a major internal systems project. This fixed‑term, hybrid role ensures continuity of finance services while colleagues are engaged on the project.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver finance administration across income, payments and business partner functions.
• Manage Direct Debit, rent accounting and Housing Benefit processing.
• Perform banking, sales and purchase ledger reconciliations and supplier payments.
• Handle credit control and account reconciliations.
• Support financial reporting, audit preparation and system‑related processes.
• Provide administrative assistance to the wider Finance team and maintain accurate records.
• Undertake ad‑hoc line‑management duties when senior managers are occupied with the project.

Required profile

• Strong finance administration experience, preferably in housing, social housing, local government or a similarly regulated environment.
• A‑Level qualifications or equivalent experience.
• Solid understanding of income collection, credit control, sales and purchase ledger processes.
• Excellent reconciliation skills and high attention to detail.
• Highly organised, able to juggle competing priorities and build effective relationships.
• Proactive problem‑solver with a commitment to continuous improvement.
