Senior FX e‑Trading Java Developer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Java Engineer to help build a cutting‑edge, low‑latency FX e‑trading platform. The role is hybrid, with four days on‑site in London, and focuses on delivering high‑performance, resilient, and secure trading systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, event‑driven micro‑services for market data, order and risk workflows.
• Optimise latency, throughput and reliability across the stack and add observability (metrics, tracing, logging).
• Establish engineering best practices including code standards, testing strategies, CI/CD pipelines and secure coding.
• Mentor and pair‑program with other engineers, guiding architecture and clean code decisions.
• Leverage AI‑assisted coding tools to accelerate development while maintaining human oversight.
• Collaborate with product, trading and infrastructure teams to translate requirements into robust technical designs.

Required profile

• Professional software engineering experience with deep expertise in core Java, multithreading and performance tuning.
• Proven background in low‑latency design and distributed systems (micro‑services, event‑driven architectures, messaging/streaming).
• Strong computer‑science fundamentals – data structures, algorithms, concurrency, networking and operating systems.
• Experience in real‑time financial or e‑trading systems, preferably FX, including market data and order execution flows.
• Hands‑on with CI/CD, containerisation, cloud/on‑prem deployments and observability tooling.
• Comfortable integrating AI coding tools into daily workflows and excellent communication skills.
