Senior Gardener

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Gardener to join a respected garden‑maintenance business in Surrey. Working closely with the Head Gardener, you will lead a team, maintain high‑standard private gardens and develop your leadership skills while staying hands‑on.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Head Gardener in day‑to‑day garden maintenance projects.
• Lead by example, delivering exceptional horticultural standards.
• Mentor and develop junior gardeners.
• Take ownership of garden visits and ensure planned works are completed efficiently.
• Understand client requirements and seasonal maintenance programmes.
• Maintain strong client relationships through clear communication.
• Use scheduling software to organise workloads and keep records up to date.
• Ensure tools, machinery and vehicles are maintained and ready for use.
• Promote safe working practices and adhere to health and safety procedures.

Required profile

• Previous experience in professional garden maintenance.
• Strong horticultural knowledge and genuine passion for gardening.
• Confidence to support, mentor and motivate team members.
• Excellent communication and customer‑service skills.
• Proactive, organised, reliable and detail‑oriented.
• Full UK driving licence.
