Senior Geotechnical Design Engineer – Stroud

About the role

Senior Geotechnical Design Engineer needed for a leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy in Stroud, working on high‑profile residential, commercial, infrastructure and energy projects. The role combines technical leadership, project delivery and client development within a collaborative team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design of foundations, retaining structures, slopes and earthworks solutions.
• Perform complex geotechnical analysis and design calculations.
• Review and interpret ground investigation data and geotechnical reports.
• Prepare and review technical reports, specifications and design documentation.
• Manage projects from feasibility studies through detailed design and construction support.
• Provide technical guidance and mentor graduate and junior engineers.
• Attend client meetings and develop professional relationships.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary design teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Conduct site visits and provide technical support during construction.
• Ensure compliance with design standards, legislation and industry best practice.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology or related discipline.
• Chartered status (or working towards chartership) with a relevant professional body.
• Extensive experience in a geotechnical design consultancy.
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics, foundation design and earthworks engineering.
• Experience using geotechnical design software and numerical modelling packages.
• Proven ability to manage projects and mentor junior engineers.
• Excellent report‑writing and communication skills.
• Commercial awareness and experience liaising directly with clients.
• Full UK driving licence preferred.
