Senior Health & Safety Advisor

About the role

We are partnering with a respected educational organisation to find a Senior Health & Safety Advisor who will lead the development and implementation of health, safety, fire safety and compliance strategies across a complex environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and drive the organisation’s Health & Safety and Fire Safety strategy.
• Provide expert advice to managers on health, safety, compliance and risk matters.
• Ensure all policies, procedures and operations meet current legislation.
• Lead accident investigations, incident reporting and regulatory notifications.
• Conduct inspections, audits and risk assessments.
• Deliver training and foster a proactive safety culture.
• Support risk management processes and maintain risk registers.
• Prepare reports for senior leadership and governance committees.
• Manage the health and safety budget and champion continuous improvement projects.

Required profile

• Chartered membership of IOSH, CIEH or a comparable professional body.
• Degree‑level education or equivalent qualification.
• Significant experience in a senior health and safety role.
• Strong knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation.
• Proven ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
• Excellent communication, presentation and report‑writing skills.
• Organisational ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Resilient, calm and solutions‑focused approach.

Required skills
