Senior Infrastructure Operations Engineer – DevOps/Platform

About the role

HMRC is looking for a Senior Infrastructure Operations Engineer to ensure the reliability, security and efficiency of its mission‑critical cloud platforms. You will work within the Enterprise Cloud Services team, supporting millions of citizens by keeping services available and performant.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor platform performance, respond to incidents and drive rapid resolution.
• Apply change and configuration management processes to minimise risk.
• Implement security controls, patching and vulnerability management to meet compliance standards.
• Automate routine tasks and optimise cost through metrics, logging and observability.
• Collaborate with service desks and platform engineering teams to support users and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
• Document procedures, standardise operational practices and promote continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience in cloud platform operations, security and automation.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage incidents and communicate effectively with technical teams.
• Willingness to travel to Telford and work on‑site for the majority of the time.
• Eligibility to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance.
