Senior IT Infrastructure & Network Engineer

About the role

This senior position supports the technology platform of a newly merged all‑through school in Salisbury. The role is hands‑on with leadership responsibilities, overseeing an onsite IT Technician and reporting to the IT, Data and Transformation Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain Azure, Azure AD, Microsoft Intune and Windows Server 2019+ environments.
• Support and administer the school’s network infrastructure, including switching equipment.
• Lead infrastructure upgrades, deployments and technical improvement projects.
• Provide technical leadership and day‑to‑day support to the onsite IT Technician.
• Ensure high levels of system availability, security and performance.
• Support education‑specific platforms such as Salamander and PaperCut.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver reliable IT services across the school.

Required profile

• Previous IT infrastructure experience within a school, college, university or education trust.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Azure, Azure AD, Intune and Windows Server.
• Solid networking knowledge, including switching.
• Understanding of the challenges of supporting staff and students in an education environment.
• Comfortable taking ownership of technical environments and supporting junior colleagues.
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solutions‑focused approach.
