Senior Java Engineer – Platform Team (London)

About the role

Global technology and software product company operating in the observability and monitoring space is seeking a Senior Java Engineer to join its Platform Team in London. You will design and build core distributed services that ingest and transform data at scale, powering analytics and monitoring tools used worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop distributed services from the ground up using core Java.
• Build event‑driven systems at scale with Kafka and related streaming frameworks.
• Orchestrate deployments on Kubernetes, defining services, deployments and stateful sets.
• Address data consistency and availability challenges while shaping platform evolution.
• Mentor fellow engineers and collaborate with a global senior engineering team.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of backend Java development experience building complex distributed systems.
• Deep knowledge of core Java, data structures and concurrency.
• Hands‑on experience with Kafka and streaming frameworks such as Flink, Kafka Streams or Spark.
• Practical Kubernetes experience, including production troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in JVM performance tuning, garbage collection and heap analysis.
